WOLFMOTHER Frontman Discusses Original Band Split
April 22, 2009The Pulse of Radio reports: WOLFMOTHER frontman Andrew Stockdale spoke with Spinner.com about the breakup of the original trio last year, which led him to keep the name but assemble an all-new lineup. Stockdale explained, "Our collective vision might not have been as big as what we became," adding that his ex-bandmates gave him the go-ahead to continue using the WOLFMOTHER name. Stockdale said he did not want to start over with a new group because he had already written 12 new tracks and "they were written for WOLFMOTHER."
The new WOLFMOTHER is now recording the band's second album, tentatively titled "Cosmic Egg", in Los Angeles. A September release and November tour are in the works.
The band will perform at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles on Friday, May 1.
The group, which is now a quartet, played two low-key shows earlier in this year in its home country of Australia under the name WHITE FEATHER before playing a larger show as WOLFMOTHER.
Original WOLFMOTHER bassist Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett left the band last August over personal and musical differences with Stockdale.
WOLFMOTHER's 2006 debut sold more than 500,000 copies in the U.S. and featured the Grammy-winning single "Woman".
A brand new track from WOLFMOTHER, entitled "Back Round", is available for streamng below.
A liberating avalanche of skull-crushing drums and primal riffing, "Back Round" represents a joyous evolution for the Australian band following on from their 2006 self-titled debut.
